BASA Giveback to SAMMinistries – Volunteers & Donations Needed!

Help Us Make the Holidays Special for Families in Need

BASA is organizing a meaningful giveback initiative to support SAMMinistries! We’re looking for volunteers to wrap gifts and work the stores, plus donations to stock their holiday shops. Your time and generosity can make a real difference this season.

How You Can Help

Volunteer Opportunities

Gift Wrapping & Store Support

🕐 Time: 2:00 PM
📍 Location: SAMMinistries

We need enthusiastic volunteers to:

• Wrap gifts for families
• Help organize and work the stores
• Support SAMMinistries staff with holiday operations
• Create a welcoming environment for families

Donation Needs

We’re collecting items for SAMMinistries’ various stores to help families celebrate the holidays. Here’s what they need:

👕 Clothing Store

• Clothes with tags or look brand new
• All sizes welcome

🧣 Accessory Store

• Hats, scarves, gloves
• Socks, headbands, etc.

💄 Beauty Store

• Lotions, sprays, perfumes, make up, soaps
• Clippers, blow dryers, curlers, etc.

📝 Stationary Store

• Journals, notepads, pens
• Sticky pads, books, etc.

🎲 Game Store

• Deck of cards, board games
• Pick up sticks, sudoku, crossword puzzles, etc.

💍 Jewelry Store

• Earrings, bracelets, necklaces
• Pendants, rings, etc.

🎄 Holiday Store

• Christmas ornaments
• Holiday decorations, holiday shirts, hats, etc.

🏠 House Store

• Picture frames, signs with fun sayings
• Candy dishes, wax holders, waxes, etc.
• Note: They are currently living in limited space, so nothing too big

🎅 Holiday Store (General)

• Anything for the holidays
• Ornaments, little trees, holiday themed clothing, etc.

👔 Men’s Store

• Anything with tags for men
• Clothes, shoes, socks, hats, cologne, lotions, etc.

Important Deadlines

Donation Deadline: Friday, December 5th
All donations must be received by this date to be processed for the holiday season.

Contact us to arrange drop-off or pick-up of your donations. Items must be received by December 5th.

About SAMMinistries

SAMMinistries (San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries) helps families transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Their holiday stores allow families to “shop” for gifts and essentials with dignity, ensuring children and families can celebrate the season.

Your donations stock these stores, and your volunteer time helps create a positive shopping experience for families working to rebuild their lives.

Why This Matters

For Families: Parents can select gifts for their children and household items they need, preserving dignity during difficult times.

For Children: Kids experience the joy of receiving wrapped gifts, creating normal holiday memories despite challenging circumstances.

For the Community: Your participation demonstrates that San Antonio cares for all its families during the holiday season.

What Makes a Good Donation?

Best donations are:

• New or like-new condition
• Items with original tags when possible
• Age-appropriate toys and games
• Practical items families actually need
• Appropriately sized for limited living spaces

Remember: These families are living in transitional housing with limited space, so avoid oversized items.
